The Calgary Luge Club

luge-team-photoEstablished in 1985, the Calgary Luge Club (CLC) is the first stop on the trail to the Olympics for many Canadian luge athletes. National Team athletes from the Calgary area all started off as new recruits with the CLC.

The Canadian Luge Association establishes the progression for luge athletes.  Athletes progress through six levels:

  1. Novice
  2. Development B
  3. Development A
  4. Junior National Team
  5. Senior Development Team
  6. Senior National Team

The CLC is primarily involved with Novice level athletes and plays an important role recruiting and training new athletes.  As most lugers join the sport between the ages of 8 and 12, parents are heavily involved with the club - volunteering on the track, helping fundraise and sitting on the Board of Directors.
